Adult Bible Study Classes
New Beginnings Class Recent graduates, college students and newlyweds participate in a discussion class lead by Kittie Smith. This class is on the second floor of the Education Building. Kittie’s class uses the Life Matters Lifeway series.
Cornerstone Class The Cornerstone Class does not use a set format. The class selects topics from a variety of media focusing on topics of interest for younger adults with children. At times the two teachers, Patsy Thompson and Teressa Ramsey, lead simultaneously smaller groups providing a choice in topics. Recently they lead studies on marriage enrichment and parenting skills. The class meets off the Commons area where coffee and breakfast are served. The Commons area (basement) is in the Education Building.
New Life Class This newly formed class is using the Exploring the Bible material from Lifeway. The teacher is Mason Bevill, a retired preacher with a vast knowledge of the Bible. Members are encouraged to ask questions and join in discussion. This class was formed from a New Members group and currently is one of our smaller adult classes. Couples and singles of any age are welcome. They meet in a classroom adjacent to the Commons Area in the basement of the Education Center.
Adult Bible Study Adult Bible Study is for the empty nesters or soon to be empty nester, made up of couples and singles in the 40s to 50s age range. Exploring the Bible from Lifeway is the study material. This group is taught by Bobby Miller, Bruce Fackler, and Mike Hoffman and they rotate week to week. The class meets in the basement adjacent to the Commons area where coffee and breakfast are served.
Mixed Adults This class was formed many years ago as a couples’ alternative to the separate men and women’s classes, hence the “mixed” in the title. Bill Corum and Tony Allen team teach from Lifeway’s Life Ventures series, and they know how to teach. This is one of our larger classes and the material is geared towards those in retirement but with Tony and Bill’s skills all ages enjoy their teaching. The class is located on the second floor of the Education Building.
WINGS Women Inspiring, Nurturing, Growing, Serving Roxanne Nanney, Minister of Music and Senior Adults, leads this all women’s class. They are using Masterworks, studies combining the Bible and modern day authors such as Beth Moore, Charles Stanley, Tony Evans and many more. Women of all ages are welcome and they meet on the Stage of the Family Life Center.
The Friendship Class Nellie Laslie leads this senior women’s Bible study with the Life Ventures series from Lifeway. A more loving and welcoming group would be hard to find. These dear ladies have plenty of life experiences and share a wonderful time of fellowship and Bible study. They meet in the Conference Room which is on the first floor in the Family Life Center between the staff offices.
Men’s Class Tom Thomas is leading a class with relevant, current day issues facing today’s men. Material used for the teaching will be from a variety of sources. All ages are invited to this newly formed class that encourages discussion. The class meets in the Prayer Room, front left side of the Sanctuary.
